The lack of rebound for the last couple of years has been the lack of price elasticity for the shipping industry as well as the glut in shipping capacity. Normally consumer demand drives Asia-originated containerized traffic and freight flows to Europe and North America. Any changes in consumer spending will directly affect global containerized traffic volumes.
